Annotated Bibliography
Introduction to Annotated Bibliography Assignment
Final Product:
- An annotated bibliography is a research tool that will allow you to evaluate your sources before you actually incorporate them into your research paper.
- APA Citation is the type of documentation used by social scientists (such as psychologists; hence, APA=American Psychological Association) and social science students/researchers. The English Department here at Place Cartier has selected this as the most effective and user-friendly citation guide for English 5062 students.
- For my class, you will use APA style to construct your annotated bibliographies. Here are some examples of how you use it for your annotated bibliographies and your References page: a book with one author; a newspaper article or article from an online (electronic) source; a film.
- Using a computer, follow these steps:
- Go to www.english5062.weebly.com and click on the Daily Lesson Plan page. Go to today's class.
- Click here. Read the page together, and then click on Annotated Bibliography Samples on the left hand side of the page, and scroll down to the entry on APA style.
- As a group, follow the instructions on the Bibme handout.
- To find out how to cite different kinds of sources, click here, and use the menu on the left to view the kind of source you are using.
- Once you are familiar with Bibme, you may begin to construct your annotated bibliographies. You must include 5 references in total.
Final Product:
- A typed word document (Times New Roman Font, double spaced throughout)
- Top of page should read: Annotated Bibliography (centred)
- Include 5 entries, ordered alphabetically. Each entry needs one paragraph which explains why the source is a good fit for your project.
- Follow formatting as specified in the OWL’s annotated bibliography sample
